Before Insperity….

Before Insperity came to The Woodlands, the Shell Houston Open called the Tournament Course home.  This is a regular PGA Tour stop that has been played since 1946. The Woodlands hosted it from 1975 to 1984; it is currently played at the Golf Club of Houston. During its run at The Woodlands, various “greats” took the title, including many of the same that played Insperity and now help make up the history of The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course.

The “Greats of Golf”

This event featured a scramble during the second round of the tournament played by the likes of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Gary Player.  Spectators flocked to the course to witness this historic event.
